On the road again..... Ok... I'll make this short since you can read the novel my bro wrote on his site http://sagelion.typepad.com. So I'm online and Big Bro pops up and say's let's go to Texas? Sure I says... When we coming back? Who knows... The next morning at 6 am I'm up and in the saddle down the 10 fwy and on my way to an estate sale somewhere in Texas. Yeee haaa. Actually we drove all day and I had never been through the bottom half of New Mexico and into Texas. It was relaxing and I even got to see the THING! on the way. Don't ask, I'll never tell.
The trip was spontaneous and fun. We stayed in many different places that I can't even name and drove and drove and drove.... something like 3000 miles. Actually I dont remember the places cause we only slept for like 5 hours or so. Finally we got to Texas and spent sometime with a couple my brother and his wife met last year when they went to the Pirate Convention in New Orleans. They were fun and I had a Giant steak at a restaurant in Fortworth. Dinner with Blackbead and his wife was full of laughs and good times, they make jewelry and sell it at alot of the conventions. Go check out there wares. http://www.blackbead-jewelry.com and tell um Jason sent ya. AKA Rotgut.
We finally made it to the estate sale or what was left of this dudes home. Full of statues, books and nazi stuff who knew? And a secret hidden chamber for his guns or who knows? Anyhow, we bought some crap filled our truck and headed for Roswell. I was on the hunt to see a Long horn bull and maybe some alien shit. I did run into a lonely bull out there and even saw some elk with big horns too. Notice the fence in the picture of me with the bull? That's right! there was no freakin fence!
So after my close encounter with a bull we did run into some alien shit and went to the Rosewell UFO museum. That was odd and I finally go my chance to relieve my bowels with my new alien buddy. Or maybe that was just a local from Roswell. Ha. I was expecting more there. But never the less, the people were friendly and I have been there now! My brother even found time to cat nap with one of the locals.
The terrain was amazing. Cotton fields and Arizona rocks and canyons, to so many stars it was just unbelievable. The night was like someone through glitter in the air. You have to experience it. We then traveled on our way home to a town called Globe and went to a local store. I was able to finally get a kachina sculpture and take some pictures of some native art. The store was called the Pickle Barrel and we could have spent all day there. They had everything from books to old bull skulls and sculptures etc... I loved it. I can't wait to go back to that town and check out the Indian ruins.
Then we headed off for home and stopped by in Mesa Arizona to pick up some boots I have wanted for about two years since the last time we were there. This is a store called Wild West Mercantile and my brother has purchased many fine items from them before. The boots were on sale and fit well. That never happens right?
So off we go and back to Cali we arrive only to be slammed in the front end of the truck by what was believed to be a bat or owl or chupacabre or something. Holy Shit! I saw this thing out the corner of my eye and flapping it's wings, then slam! Right into the windshield above my head. That woke us up quick and whats the last thing a bat sees when he hits the windshield? Well I'll let you figure that one out. Ickkk. It woke me the hell up and I nearly had to clean my new boots!
And I'm back safe and sound. Ready to get back to work and recharged from the whole experience. I love my job. I can just take off when I want and travel. To all my California friends, get out and breath some real air. You won't believe how good ya feel. Again there was way more to this adventure. To read the whole thing go to The Adventures of the Sage Lion and buy some of my brothers leather goods so we can go on another Quest! Until next time...
