Here we go guys! My customer and good buddy James Edmonds has taken the plunge into developing a backpiece. After the completion of his arms James wanted to get started on his ganesh tattoo right away.
I decided to go really big and blown out so we can get a painterly feel to this one. We found the design on line and it may be from some older painting, I dont know but I would like to give the artist credit if I could.
James picked the ganesha as it has lot's of meaning behind it. Here is an excerpt on the ganesha from wikipedia. "Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify.[9] Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles[10] and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles (Vighnesha, Vighneshvara),[11] patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom.[12] He is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions.[13] Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography." You can read the rest by following the this link.
James found his back to be a little more sensitive so we'll se how the next sessions pan out. Not only does this imagery have some cool spiritual deep meaning, let's be straight, it's just a kick ass design for a tattoo.
Who wouldnt want an elephant with four arms right?
